Okay, so I was playing Starfield the other day, and I got to this part in the Freestar Collective questline where you gotta track down this chick, Maya Cruz. Turns out, you find her hiding out with some mercs, and their leader, Shaw, is the one who’s been causing all sorts of trouble. Now, the game throws this choice at you: do you take Shaw out, or do you try to talk her down?

Kill Shaw or Not in Starfield? This Guide Will Help You Decide!

I’m usually a “shoot first, ask questions later” kinda guy, but something about this felt different. So, I decided to try the diplomatic route first. I went up to Shaw, and we had this whole conversation. I tried to convince her that what she was doing was wrong, that she was hurting innocent people. I even tried to bribe her, you know, appeal to her greedy side.

  • I tried to persuade her.
  • I tried to bribe her.

No dice. She wasn’t buying any of it. She was all like, “We’re doing what we gotta do to survive,” and “The only good Ashata is a dead Ashata.” It was pretty clear she was set in her ways, and there was no reasoning with her.

So, I was like, “Alright, fine. If that’s how it’s gonna be…” and I drew my weapon. It was a quick fight. Shaw and her goons, they weren’t exactly pushovers, but they weren’t exactly top-tier soldiers either. A few well-placed shots, and they were down for the count.

The Aftermath

After the dust settled, I went back to my ship, feeling kinda conflicted. I mean, I did what I thought was right, but it still felt kinda heavy, you know? Like, did I really have to kill her? Was there another way?

But then I remembered what she said about the Ashata, and I realized that some people are just too far gone. There’s no saving them, no changing their minds. Sometimes, the only way to stop them from hurting others is to take them out of the picture.

It’s not a pretty solution, and it’s definitely not something I enjoy doing, but sometimes, it’s the only way. At least, that’s what I told myself to feel better about the whole thing.

Anyways I found if I had persuaded her or bribed her, I could have get a modified Razorback pistol as a reward, well, that’s fine, maybe next time.

So, yeah, that’s my story about whether to kill Shaw or not in Starfield. It’s a tough choice, and there’s no easy answer. But hey, that’s what makes these games so interesting, right?
