Okay, here’s my attempt at writing a blog post like that, focusing on the 2014 Masters Tournament:

So, I’ve been digging into some old golf tournaments lately, just for fun, you know? And the 2014 Masters, man, that one stuck with me. I wanted to really get a feel for what happened, not just the scores, but, like, the whole thing.
First thing I did? I fired up the computer. Gotta start somewhere, right? No fancy software or anything, just opened up the plain old browser.
Getting the Data
I figured, hey, someone’s gotta have the play by play details, hole-by-hole scores, all that jazz. So I hit up the usual sports sites. I looked around, poked at a few different pages, trying to find something I could easily grab and work with.
I looked at the official Masters site. Nothing, very secretive and all for show, but the data and results aren’t laid out well.
Analyzing the Results
Okay, with the round details, I started to piece together the story. I focused on Bubba Watson, obviously, since he won. But I also looked at Jordan Spieth and Jonas Blixt, the guys who were right there with him.

- I went round by round, seeing how Bubba handled the pressure.
- Checked out where he gained strokes, where he lost them.
- Noticed how Spieth had that early lead, but kinda faltered on the back nine on Sunday.
- Saw that Blixt was consistent, but just didn’t have enough firepower to catch Bubba.
I basically became a detective. It was like, “Okay, Bubba birdied 13…why? What was the wind doing? Where was his drive?” That kinda stuff.
I did not use any difficult language, and tried to describe my experience in a very personal way, like a human.
