Okay, so I wanted to keep better track of my stats in Matt Geiger’s games. You know, just for fun, to see how I’m really doing. I’m not a super competitive guy, but it’s cool to see some numbers sometimes.

The Setup
First, I had to figure out where to even start. I mean, I’m not a programmer or anything. I just wanted something simple. I thought about using a notebook, but, come on, it’s 2024. There’s gotta be a better way.
Trying Stuff Out
I poked around online and found a few options, but most of them were way too complicated. Like, I didn’t need some crazy database with a million features. I just needed to track a few basic things.
Then it hit me: a spreadsheet! I know, it sounds boring, but it’s actually perfect. I fired up Google Sheets – because it’s free and easy – and started making columns.
My Spreadsheet System
- Game: Pretty obvious, which game was I playing.
- Date: When did I play?
- Kills: How many people did I knock down?
- Deaths: Yeah, how many times did I get taken out.
- K/D Ratio: Just a simple formula to calculate kills divided by deaths. Gotta see that ratio!
- Other notes: Add any important event.
I kept it super basic. Just those few things. I didn’t want to get bogged down in details.
Putting It to Use
After each game, I just popped open the sheet on my phone and entered the numbers. Took like, two seconds. And the cool thing is, Google Sheets does the K/D calculation for me. Sweet!

The Results (So Far)
Honestly, it’s been pretty cool. I can see which games I’m doing better in, and which ones… well, let’s just say I need more practice. It’s also helped me see if I’m actually improving over time, or if I’m just stuck in a rut.
It’s not fancy, but it works! And that’s all I really wanted. Something simple, easy, and gives me a little bit of insight into my gaming. Maybe I’ll add more stats later, but for now, this is perfect.
