Well, let me tell you, that NASCAR race in Michigan, it’s a big deal ’round here. Everybody gets all excited. But that darn weather, it can really throw a wrench in the whole thing. It’s been a mess this year, with all this Michigan rain.

They was racin’ and racin’, and then, bam! Rain came down like cats and dogs. Had to stop the whole shebang. That Michigan International Speedway, it’s a big, long track, 2 miles, I hear. When it gets wet, it stays wet for a while. They got them big machines to dry it up, but it takes time, you know?

Last year, same story. Rained out. This year, they had to stop it after only 51 laps ’round that big oval. That Chase Elliott fella, he was in the lead. They had to wait til the next day to start again, on Monday. Imagine that! All them folks waiting around.

You wouldn’t believe how much gas them cars use. Makes me think about my old truck, guzzles it down like a thirsty dog. They say each gallon of that there gas makes a whole heap of bad air, like 20 pounds worth, whatever that means. With all them races, that’s a lot of bad air, that’s for sure.

I heard tell this time the race was supposed to start earlier. They was worried about the rain. That’s smart thinkin’, I reckon. ‘Cause once it starts pourin’, ain’t nothin’ you can do but wait. And wait. And wait some more. And NASCAR in Michigan ain’t fun in the rain, not for nobody.

And if it starts to rain, they just gotta stop. Sometimes, it’s just a little sprinkle, and they can get back to racin’ pretty quick. But other times, it’s a real downpour. That’s when they gotta stop for hours, or even a whole day. You could see if the weather is good in Michigan International Speedway, but it is unpredictable.

  • Sometimes the rain just don’t know when to quit.
  • Makes it hard on them drivers, I bet.
  • And them folks in the stands, they get soaked!

I seen it before, people huddled up under them umbrellas, lookin’ miserable. But they love that NASCAR, rain or shine. My neighbor, he went one year, said it was rainin’ sideways! Still had a good time, though. Said it was worth gettin’ a little wet. Weather at Michigan International Speedway is unpredictable.

And get this, even at night, there’s still a chance of rain. Heard someone say there was a 24% chance of rain at 8 o’clock at night. Can you believe that? Rain at night! Who ever heard of such a thing? I tell ya, that Michigan weather, it’s a tricky thing. These days, you just never know.

They say that weather can really mess with the race, too. Not just the rain, but the wind and all that. Makes them cars go this way and that. I don’t know much about it, but I guess it makes it harder to drive. Those drivers, they gotta be real careful out there, especially when it’s wet.

So, if you’re plannin’ on goin’ to the NASCAR race in Michigan, you better keep an eye on the sky. Bring your umbrella, just in case. And maybe a raincoat, too. And some boots. Might as well be prepared for anything. ‘Cause that Michigan weather, it’s a wild card, that’s for sure. You just never know what it’s gonna do.

Well, I reckon that’s all I got to say about that. It’s a lot of hoopla for a bunch of cars goin’ around in a circle, if you ask me. But folks sure do love it. Just hope they don’t get rained out again next year. That would be a real shame. I do like me some racin’, but I like it a whole lot better when the sun’s shinin’ and the track is dry. It’s more fun watchin’ them cars zoom around when you ain’t gettin’ soaked to the bone, you know? I hope they had their fun. Those NASCAR drivers are sure brave, no matter the weather.
