So, first off, I saw that Bally Sports’ parent company, Diamond Sports, went bankrupt. Yeah, big news. This kinda opened the door for something new, right? And the Pelicans were like, “Okay, let’s make a move.”
I started looking into what they did next, and I found out they teamed up with Gray Media. Basically, they’re launching a new thing called the Gulf Coast Sports & Entertainment Network, or GCSEN for short. This is going to be the new home for Pelicans games. Seems like a smart move to me.

- I went to the Pelicans’ official website. Just poked around there, you know, looking at their announcements and stuff.
- Then, I checked out what this new GCSEN channel is all about. It’s on channel 129 on Cox in New Orleans, and 125 in Baton Rouge.
- I also started reading some articles about the deal. Learned that most of the Pelicans’ regular-season games will be free in Louisiana! That’s huge for the fans.
I also found this interesting thing called Pelicans+. It’s like a streaming service just for the Pelicans. You can watch games live, see pregame and postgame shows, and even watch game replays. Sounds pretty cool if you’re a die-hard fan.
I was also curious about the history of the Pelicans. It was a rabbit hole, but I learned that the team started in 1988 in Charlotte, North Carolina. They were called the Hornets back then.
My Final Thoughts
This whole TV deal seems like a win-win. The Pelicans get to reach more fans, and the fans get more access to the games. I’m excited to see how this all plays out.
