So, I’m just scrolling through stuff, minding my own business, you know, trying to catch up on things. And then boom, this news about Dylan Carlson getting non-tendered by the Rays hits me. Wow.

The Rays, huh? Carlson? I had to read that twice. I mean, this is a guy who was a pretty big deal not too long ago. Former first-rounder, tons of hype when he was coming up with the Cardinals. You remember that, right? Everyone thought he was going to be a stud for years.
And now, non-tendered. Just like that. Makes you think, doesn’t it? What happened there? He had some good moments, showed flashes. But then the injuries started piling up, and consistency just wasn’t there. It’s a tough game, man. One little thing goes wrong, then another, and suddenly you’re on the outside looking in.
But let’s talk about the Rays for a second. Are we surprised? Not really, if you think about it. That’s how they operate, isn’t it? They are always looking for an edge, always calculating. If a guy doesn’t fit their numbers, or their price point, they just move on. Cold? Maybe. But you can’t argue with their results most of the time, can you? They squeeze value out of everything.
It’s a bit like some of these companies I’ve seen. They talk a big game about family and loyalty, but when the numbers don’t add up for them, you’re just a line item. One day you’re part of the “core,” the next day your access card doesn’t work. Sounds familiar?
This whole Carlson thing, it’s just another reminder. Baseball, at the end of the day, is a business. A brutal one. All that talk about potential and prospects? It means something, sure, but performance and cost? That’s what talks loudest. It’s a conveyor belt. Someone falls off, there’s always someone else ready to jump on.

I guess Carlson will land somewhere. He’s young enough, got that pedigree. Someone will take a chance on him, probably on a cheap deal. A “prove it” kind of thing. And who knows, maybe a change of scenery is exactly what he needs. Sometimes getting kicked to the curb is the kick in the pants you didn’t know you needed. We’ll see. But yeah, the Rays… they didn’t waste any time, did they? Just another day at the office for them, I suppose.
