Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with getting the Premier League standings. I’ve always been a huge football fan, and keeping track of the table is a daily thing for me. I thought, “Why not try to grab this data myself?” So, I did!
Getting Started
First things first, I needed to find a place where I could get this information. Obviously, there are tons of sports websites out there, I know. I’m wanted to use this, that can grab this data, maybe using some online tutorials, then do it myself, it’s that simple!
The Process
I started to copy it line by line. It sounds tedious, I know, and it really was! Copy, paste, check, copy, paste, check… For the big teams, it’s easy to remember the points and positions, but there are 20 teams, and it takes time to memorize it!
- Team Name: I made sure to get the names right.
- Games Played: How many games they’ve played so far.
- Wins, Draws, Losses: The usual breakdown of their results.
- Goals For & Against: Important for goal difference.
- Goal Difference: That all-important number!
- Points: The most important.
Putting It All Together
After I get all those data, I put them into a simple text document, I checked it a couple times, I’m sure it’s 100% correct. I do not want to do it again!
Final Thoughts
It’s so rewarding to get this done, but it’s a very long process and I will find another efficient method to solve it. Next time maybe use other tools to help me improve it.
