Okay, so I’ve been messing around with Reaper lately, trying to get that cool, spooky “black voice” effect. You know, the one that sounds like a deep, demonic growl? I finally figured out a way to do it, and it’s actually pretty simple. Here’s how I did it:

Reaper Black Voice Line: Get all voice line and quotes here!

First, I recorded my voice. Just a normal recording, nothing special. I just spoke a line that I’ve wanted to work on.

Then, I opened up that recording in Reaper. I have the software installed on my desktop.

Next, I added the “ReaPitch” effect to the track. This is where the magic happens. It comes standard with Reaper, so no need to download anything extra.

  • I clicked on the “FX” button on the track.
  • I selected the “ReaPitch” from the list of effects.

Once ReaPitch was open, I started experimenting. The main thing I adjusted was the pitch shift. I lowered it way down, like -12 semitones or even more. This is what gives it that deep, bassy sound.

I also played around with the “Formant Shift” slider. This one’s a bit trickier to explain, but basically, it changes the character of the voice. Moving it down makes it sound more “masculine” and “dark,” which is perfect for this effect.

It took a bit of tweaking to get it just right. I kept adjusting the pitch and formant shift until it sounded the way I wanted. I suggest you do the same, you’re likely going to be using a different line than mine, so it will need some adjustments to get it perfect.

Finally, I added a bit of reverb. This just gives it some extra atmosphere and makes it sound even spookier. I used the built in “ReaVerbate”. Nothing fancy.

And that’s it! It’s not rocket science, just a bit of pitch shifting and some experimentation. You can get some pretty crazy voice effects with Reaper and a little bit of know-how.I saved my work, and now it’s ready to be exported! Happy experimenting!
