Okay, so let me tell you about this thing I was messing around with – trying to relive some old basketball glory, you know? I wanted to dig into the 2009-2010 Los Angeles Lakers season. Straight up nostalgia trip.

First, I started by scouring the web for game footage. YouTube, random sports highlight sites, the works. It was a pain, honestly. Some of the video quality was potato-level. I had to sift through a ton of junk to find full games, not just highlight reels. You know, like full games.
Then, after I had what I felt was enough game footage, I was like, “Okay, let’s grab some stats.” I went to ESPN, Basketball-Reference, all the usual places. Downloaded box scores, player stats, season standings. I wanted to get the whole picture of what was going on, team performance-wise and individually.
Next, I started playing around with the data. I used a spreadsheet program to organize the stats and calculate some basic metrics – points per game, rebounds, assists, shooting percentages. Nothing too fancy, just trying to see who was really carrying the team during different parts of the season. It was Kobe, mostly. Obviously.
After this, I wanted to put the video and data together, so I matched up some of the standout games to the stats from that night. Like, if Kobe had a monster performance in a particular game, I’d find the footage and watch it while looking at the box score. It was cool seeing how the numbers translated to what was happening on the court.
Honestly, it was a pretty fun way to kill some time.
