Checking Ricardo Mayorga’s Boxing Stats
So earlier today I got curious about Ricardo Mayorga’s boxing career. That Nicaraguan dude had such a wild personality and aggressive style. Wanted to see how many times he actually took the L in the ring.
Started by just typing his name into Google. Remembered he fought mostly between late 90s to 2010s, so focused on boxing record sites tracking that era. Scrolled through different pages showing fight results – man that guy fought EVERYBODY!
Counting Those Losses
When I started tallying:
- First noticed he lost twice to Vernon Forrest back in 2003
- Got knocked out by Felix Trinidad in 2004
- Shane Mosley beat him twice too in 2007 and 2008
- Saw Miguel Cotto stopped him in 2011
- Kept digging – found like 4-5 more losses late in his career
Took me a minute ’cause some sites had different totals. Had to cross-check dates and opponents. Finally settled on this:

My Thoughts
Honestly 13 losses seems high at first glance, but considering he fought 47 times against killers like Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Shane, and Cotto? Damn respectable. That crazy moth#er always brought fireworks even when he lost. Shoulda maybe quit after the Cotto fight though – those last few losses hurt to look up.
