Okay, so today I’m gonna walk you through this little project I was messing with – “rick fox 2024”. Sounds kinda crazy, right? Well, it started as a goof, but I ended up learning a few things along the way.

Rick Fox in 2024: What is he up to now?

It all kicked off when I was scrolling through some old NBA clips. Rick Fox popped up, and I thought, “Man, what’s he up to now?” One thing led to another, and I had this ridiculous idea to see if I could whip up a fake “Rick Fox for President 2024” campaign thingy. Just for laughs, you know?

First thing I did was hop onto my machine and fire up my usual text editor. Needed to brainstorm some slogans. You know, the catchy stuff. Things like “Fox: Leading the Pack” or “Get Foxified!”. Real cheesy, I know. I wrote down a whole bunch of them, trying to find something that kinda worked. It was actually harder than I thought to come up with something funny and semi-believable.

Next, I wanted to get some visuals going. So, I went hunting online for some good-looking Rick Fox pics. Found a bunch of decent ones. Then I fired up my image editor and started messing around. Added some patriotic colors, slapped on a campaign logo I threw together real quick (a stylized fox head, naturally), and added the slogans I’d come up with. Made a few different versions, just to see what looked best.

After that, I figured, why not make a quick little video? Nothing fancy, just some clips of Fox playing basketball, maybe some interviews, with my goofy slogans flashing across the screen. I used a free video editor I had lying around. Took a while to find the right clips and sync everything up, but it was kinda fun messing with it. The whole video was probably under a minute long, just enough to be shareable.

Now, here’s where it got a little more involved. I decided to try and throw up a super simple website. Just a landing page with the image and video I made. Nothing crazy fancy. I found a cheap hosting provider, picked a domain name (something like *), and started messing around with HTML and CSS. It was a bit of a pain, ’cause I’m no web developer, but I managed to get something halfway decent up and running. Took me a few hours of googling and cursing.

The Result?

Well, the website looked like it was made by a complete amateur (because it was!), but it was up. The video was dumb, but kinda funny. And the whole thing was so absurd, it actually made me laugh. I shared it with a few friends, and they got a kick out of it too.

  • Learned a bit more about image editing.
  • Got a little better at basic web design.
  • Remembered how much I hate CSS.

It was a total waste of time, but hey, sometimes those are the most fun, right?
