Yesterday, I decided to hit up the Rockland Lake Executive Golf Course. I heard some good things about it, and since it’s a public course, I figured it’d be a good way to spend the day.

I grabbed my clubs, hopped in the car, and made my way to Congers, New York. The drive was pretty smooth. When I arrived, I checked in at the pro shop. After that I grabbed a scorecard and headed out to the first tee.
The course itself is an 18-hole executive layout, which means it’s a bit shorter than a regular course, which I think is more suitable for beginners. I started my round, and immediately noticed the hills. Man, there are a lot of them! It’s definitely a workout, especially if you’re walking like I was. I wouldn’t recommend walking this course, especially on a hot day.
- One thing I really liked was using a golf GPS app on my phone. It helped me figure out distances to the greens.
- I also used it to keep score, which was super convenient.
The course was in pretty good shape for a public track. I played through all 18 holes, taking my time and enjoying the scenery, I did not see any water hazards, which was a bit of a surprise. I took plenty of shots, some good, some not so good, but hey, that’s golf, right?
Some Details
I also learned that the slope rating is a measure of difficulty.
- A higher slope means it’s tougher for higher-handicap players.
- The standard is 113, and this course ranges from 55 to 155, so it can be quite challenging.
After my round, I grabbed a bite to eat at the snack bar. Overall, I had a good time at Rockland Lake Executive Golf Course. It’s a decent track, especially for the price, the staff was friendly. I think I’ll definitely come back here again.

If you’re in the area and looking for a casual round of golf, give it a shot. Just be prepared for those hills!
