Okay, so I saw this “Scottie Scheffler 59” thing trending and I was like, “What’s that all about?” I’m not a huge golf guy, but I know Scheffler is pretty good. Turns out, he shot a 59 in a round at The Northern Trust a while back. That’s insane! I figured, hey, I’ve played a little golf, let me try to recreate this magic… in my own, very amateur way, on my local course.

Scottie Scheffler Shoots 59: What a Score! (Key Moments)

Getting Started

First, I dug out my old clubs. They’ve been gathering dust in the garage, so they needed a good wipe down. I also stocked up on golf balls, knowing full well I’d be losing a bunch in the woods and water. My course is no PGA-Tour-level, super-groomed course. It’s a public, a bit, shall we say… “rustic”.

The “Attempt”

I teed off with high hopes, trying to channel my inner Scheffler. My first drive? It sliced right into the trees. Classic. So, not exactly starting with a birdie. The round went on like that. A few decent shots, but mostly just me trudging through the rough, searching for lost balls, and cursing at my terrible putting. I did not use a caddy and carried the bag myself.

  • Hole 1: Bogey. Feeling optimistic…ish.
  • Hole 2: Double bogey. Reality sets in.
  • Hole 3-18: A blur of lost balls, missed putts, and increasing frustration.

The (Not So) Grand Finale

My final score? Let’s just say it was nowhere near 59. It was more than double it. I limped back to the clubhouse, defeated but with a good bit of exercise and a little suntan. My dreams of recreating Scheffler’s magic round were clearly just that – dreams. Still, it was good to get out there and swing the clubs, even if I was just proving to myself how incredibly difficult it is to shoot a 59.

I learned one thing today, and I’ve decided, that Professional golfers are really, really good. And I am really, really not. But hey, at least I tried! I’ve gained a new level of respect for the sport after this!
