Okay, so I’ve been seeing a lot of hype around Shaedon Sharpe’s vertical jump lately, and I got curious. I mean, the dude can fly. So, I decided to do a little digging and, more importantly, see if I could improve my own hops, even just a bit, by looking at what he does.

My Starting Point
First things first, I needed a baseline. I went out to my driveway, put a piece of tape as high as I could reach standing flat-footed, and then jumped and slapped another piece of tape as high as I could. I measured the difference, you know, the old-school way. I Won’t bore you with the not-so-impressive number, Let’s just say there was plenty of room for improvement.
Diving into Shaedon’s Secrets
Next, I hit the internet. I watched a bunch of his highlights, slowing down the videos, trying to see what I could learn.
One important note is the technique, you konw, that’s pretty clear, so you can improve it by practicing.
My “Training” (aka Experimenting)
- Warm-up: I started with some basic warm-ups. Jumping jacks, high knees, butt kicks – the usual stuff to get the blood flowing.
- Jumping Practice:I started to *, I began to jump repeatedly.
- The “Cool Down”: I finished by stretching out my legs, making sure to hold each stretch for a good 30 seconds. I didn’t want to be super sore the next day.
The Results (So Far)
Okay, so I haven’t turned into Shaedon Sharpe overnight. But, after just a few sessions of this, I went back out to my driveway and re-tested my vertical. And guess what? I actually added a couple of inches! It’s not much, but it’s something. It’s proof that even a little bit of focused effort can make a difference.
I’m definitely going to keep at this. I’m not expecting to be dunking anytime soon, but hey, every little bit helps. Maybe I’ll check back in a few weeks with another update. Who knows, maybe I’ll be able to touch the rim by then (a guy can dream, right?).
