Alright, so, let me tell you about this whole thing with the Shai Gilgeous-Alexander AT&T commercial. You know, the one that’s been playing like, a million times during the NBA playoffs? Yeah, that one.

So, first off, I’m flipping through channels, right? Just trying to catch some basketball, and boom, there it is. The commercial with Shai and Chet Holmgren. Now, I’ve seen these guys on the court, they’re beasts, but this commercial? It’s something else.
I started noticing it at first like during every other commercial break. I mean, it’s cool to see them, but it started getting a bit much, you know? Like, I get it, AT&T, you got a plan for me. Message received.
Then I went online, just to see if anyone else was talking about it. And oh boy, were they. It’s like everyone and their grandma has an opinion on this ad. Even Dan Patrick was talking about it, he was just talk with a person about this ad and he says it’s a smash hit!
- Started seeing the commercial during NBA playoff games.
- Noticed it was playing A LOT.
- Checked online to see if others were talking about it.
- Found out EVERYONE is talking about it.
So, I watched the commercial a few more times, trying to figure out what the big deal is. It’s Shai and Chet, they’re dressed all stylish in these dark jackets, and Chet’s like, “AT&T just sent me a heads-up on the best plan for me.” And Shai approves. That’s it. That’s the whole thing.
But here’s the thing, it’s been on since March Madness, like college basketball, and now it’s May! They’re really pushing this thing. And the internet? They’re having a field day. People love Shai and Chet on the court, but this commercial, it’s getting mixed reviews, to say the least.

I even saw someone compare it to that Christina Aguilera song, “What a Girl Wants.” I guess because the commercial is called “What a Pro Wants”? I don’t know, it’s a bit of a stretch, but hey, people are creative.
My Takeaway
Honestly, I think AT&T might have overdone it a bit. I mean, I’m all for seeing Shai and Chet, but maybe mix it up a little? I’m not sure if this is the best way to get people to switch to their service, but hey, at least everyone’s talking about it, right? I think it will be better to change a new commercial now. But anyway, that’s my little adventure with this whole Shai Gilgeous-Alexander AT&T commercial saga. It’s been a wild ride, that’s for sure.
