Okay, so, I tried playing golf in the snow the other day. I saw some stuff online about playing in the cold, and I thought, “Why not?” I mean, I love golf, and I don’t want to stop just because it’s winter. Plus, they said Topgolf stays open even in extreme weather and it is a good exercise.

First off, I bundled up. I put on a moisture-wicking shirt as a base layer, you know, to keep the sweat off me. Then, I added a couple more layers – a long-sleeved shirt and a sweater. But I tried not to wear too many clothes. I figured I’d get warmed up once I started moving around. And I made sure I had extra layers in my bag, just in case.
Then, I started hitting some balls. The snow on the ground made it a bit tricky. I had to adjust my swing a little, I used some different clubs, trying to get a feel for how they performed in the cold. But I kept going, swinging and moving, trying to stay warm.
One of the big things was keeping my hands warm. I had some hand warmers in my pockets, and I kept switching them out, making sure my hands didn’t get too cold. It’s hard to grip the club when your fingers are freezing!
I also made sure to keep moving. Walking between shots, swinging the club, even just shifting my weight back and forth – it all helped to keep my body temperature up. The article also said playing golf can help combat winter blues. I did feel good to get outside.
Takeaways from My Snowy Golf Adventure
- Layering is Key: Wear multiple layers to stay warm, but don’t overdo it.
- Warm Hands, Warm Heart: Keep your hands warm with hand warmers or gloves.
- Stay in Motion: Keep moving to generate body heat.
It was definitely a different experience, playing golf in the snow. But you know what? I actually enjoyed it. It was a fun challenge, and it felt good to get outside and do something active, even though it was freezing. I’ll probably try it again, maybe next time I’ll bring a thermos of hot chocolate though!
