Okay, so I’ve been wanting to do this “Vicla” style on a Softail Deluxe for a while now. I finally pulled the trigger and started the project. It’s a whole different beast than my usual builds, but I was stoked to get my hands dirty.

Softail Deluxe Vicla: Get the Classic Chicano Style!

First things first, I stripped the bike down. Off came the stock exhaust, the seat, the fenders – basically anything that didn’t scream “low and slow” was gone. It looked pretty naked sitting there in the garage, but I could already see the potential.

Next up was the exhaust. I went with a set of long fishtail pipes. Getting them to fit just right took some work. Lots of measuring, cutting, and welding. I probably spent a good two days just on the exhaust, making sure the lines were perfect and the sound was just right – that deep rumble is essential for the Vicla look.

Then came the handlebars. I swapped out the stock ones for some tall apes. I had a little bit issue to adjust the cables and wiring. It’s always a bit of a puzzle figuring out how to route everything neatly, but I eventually got it sorted.I make sure my hands feel just right on those grips.

  • Fenders: I found some long, flowing fenders that matched the lines of the bike. I did have to do some custom fabrication to get them mounted securely, but it was worth it. They really complete the look.
  • Seat: I picked up a low-profile solo seat with a classic tuck-and-roll * is always a concern for the seat, but I was willing to sacrifice a little bit for the sake of style. I must say, it looks killer.
  • Wheels: I changed stock wheels and instand of wide spokes one. Getting it fit perfect took some time.
  • Paint: I haven’t decided on the final paint job yet, but I’m leaning towards something classic – maybe a deep candy apple red or a two-tone black and silver.

It’s still a work in progress, but it’s really starting to come together. I’ve spent countless hours in the garage, wrenching, cursing, and celebrating the small victories. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of seeing your vision come to life, one piece at a time.

I’m super pumped with how it’s turning out. It’s definitely going to turn some heads when it’s finished.
