Okay, so let me tell you about this place called Jack O’Lantern Resort. I heard about it from some folks talking about a good spot for a family getaway, and it sounded right up our alley. So, we decided to give it a shot.
First thing we did was to look up what they offered. Turns out, it’s a vacation rental place up in the White Mountains. We’re not hotel people, so this was perfect. We saw that they had their own units that they rent directly to guests, which usually means better prices. And boy, were we right about that! We got a sweet deal.
We booked a home there, and let me tell you, it was packed with stuff to do. Seriously, there was something for everyone. We’re talking swimming, a spa, tennis courts, basketball, even a golf course. And for the kids? They had ping pong tables! The place was beautiful, too. Green everywhere, clean air – just what the doctor ordered.
Here’s a list of the things we did:
- Swimming: They had a great pool area. Spent a lot of time there, just chilling and splashing around.
- Spa: Oh man, the spa was a lifesaver. After all that activity, it was nice to just relax and get pampered.
- Golf: I’m not much of a golfer, but the course looked amazing. It’s right there on Route 3, near Woodstock. I saw some folks out there having a blast.
- Tennis and Basketball: Played a few games with the family. Good way to burn off some energy and have some laughs.
- Ping Pong: The kids were all over this. They had tournaments and everything.
They also had this thing where you could walk through a path with thousands of carved pumpkins. It was about 3/4 of a mile long and had 17 different “worlds” made of hand-carved Jack O’Lanterns. The artists who made those must’ve been crazy talented. We didn’t get to see it this time since it seemed to be a seasonal thing, but we’re definitely coming back for that.
Getting to Loon Mountain from the resort was a breeze. We just hopped in the car and we were there in no time. But, you know, they could use some sprucing up around the place. The office seemed a bit dated, and some of the decorations were… well, let’s just say they weren’t my style.
In a Nutshell
All in all, Jack O’Lantern Resort was a great find. We had a blast, and it was super affordable. It’s a good place if you want lots of activities and a nice, relaxing environment. Just don’t expect anything too fancy. It’s more about the fun and the memories you make, you know? We’re already thinking about when we can go back. It’s definitely a place we’ll be visiting again.
