You know, I’ve been driving for what feels like a hundred years. And lately, sitting in traffic, watching my gas needle drop, I started thinking, there’s gotta be a better way for some trips. Especially for those short hops, you know? To the local shops, or just to get out for a bit without the hassle of the car.

My neighbor, Barry, he’s one of those guys. Always has to have the newest gadget. One week it’s a coffee machine that costs more than my first car, the next it’s some high-tech vacuum. Anyway, he pulls up the other day on this really sleek, almost futuristic-looking electric scooter. My first thought was, “Oh, here we go again, Barry’s new toy.” But I had to admit, it looked pretty darn cool.
So, I wandered over while he was parking it. “Hey Barry,” I said, “what in the world is that thing? Looks… expensive.” He puffed out his chest a bit, you know how some folks get, and tells me, “It’s the new BMW electric scooter!” A BMW scooter! I nearly choked on my coffee. BMW? Making scooters now? My very next thought, as you can imagine, was, “Okay, how much did that monster set you back?”
He was a bit vague, just said it was “top of the line” and “you get what you pay for.” Classic Barry. That really got my curiosity going. I wasn’t about to run out and buy one, especially not a BMW one, but I just had to know what “top of the line” meant in scooter money.
So, I Did a Bit of Digging on This BMW Scooter Cost
Later that evening, after dinner, I plonked myself down with my tablet. I started searching around. Typed in things like “BMW electric scooter price,” “how much is BMW e-scooter,” that sort of thing. And let me tell you, what I found made me whistle. Loudly.
It wasn’t pocket change, that’s for sure. I saw a couple of main things. There’s this big one, the one Barry had, I think it’s called the CE 04. Looked like something out of a sci-fi movie. And the prices I was seeing for that? Wow.

- Most articles and listings I stumbled upon put it well into the ten, eleven, even twelve thousand dollar range. Some even higher depending on extras and taxes.
- That’s serious money. I mean, proper motorbike money, or even a decent little used car money!
- Then I saw BMW also had some smaller, more regular-looking electric kick scooters, made with another company. Those were way less, obviously, but still pretty pricey for what they were, carrying that BMW logo.
Honestly, I was a bit taken aback. I mean, it’s BMW, so you expect a bit of a price hike, sure. But for a scooter? My old runaround didn’t cost that much new, and that thing had four doors and a trunk! For something that’s mainly for zipping around town, it felt like a whole lot of money for, well, not a whole lot of ‘vehicle,’ if you catch my drift.
I spent a good hour just clicking through web pages, looking at the specs – it does have some fancy tech, I’ll give it that – and reading what people were saying. It’s a head-turner, no doubt. But that cost.
So, that was my little adventure for the day: investigating the true cost of Barry’s latest bragging right. Did I come away wanting one? Not at that price, my friend. My wallet breathed a huge sigh of relief. I think I’ll stick to my current wheels for now, or maybe look at some electric options that don’t require taking out a second mortgage. It was certainly an eye-opener, though, seeing what the fancy brands are charging for two wheels and a battery these days. Makes you think, doesn’t it?
