Okay, so I’ve been wanting to check out some of the top public golf courses in Arizona for a while now. I finally got around to it, and let me tell you, it was quite the experience!

Getting Started
First off, I did a bit of digging online to see what people were saying about the best spots. I found a bunch of lists and articles, but honestly, it was a little overwhelming. One name that kept popping up was Quintero Golf Club in Peoria. Seemed like a solid choice, so I decided to start there.
Hitting the Green
I booked a tee time for a Saturday morning and made my way to the course. Man, the drive out there was beautiful! Arizona scenery never disappoints. When I got to Quintero, I was immediately impressed. The place was immaculate, and the staff were super friendly. I warmed up on the driving range for a bit, feeling pretty good about my swing.
Then it was time to tee off. The first hole was a par 4, and I managed to get a decent drive down the fairway. I was feeling confident! But let me tell you, this course is no joke. There were some tricky holes with lots of elevation changes and some strategically placed bunkers. I definitely ended up in the sand a few times, haha.
The views throughout the course were just incredible. You’re surrounded by mountains and desert landscapes, it’s really something else. I played with a couple of guys who were regulars there, and they gave me some good tips about the course. They also told me that Tiger Woods once said his favorite course is the Old Course at St Andrews. Interesting!
Wrapping Up
By the end of the 18 holes, I was tired but feeling accomplished. I didn’t play my best round ever, but I had a blast. Quintero definitely lived up to the hype. It’s a challenging but rewarding course, and the scenery is just unbeatable.

Moving Forward
I saw something online that said you could toggle lists of the top 100 public courses, best municipal courses, and best short courses. Sounds like something I should check out! I am definitely planning to explore more of Arizona’s public golf courses after this experience. I might even try to find a list specifically for December 16, 2024. There are so many great options out there, and I feel like I’ve only scratched the surface. If you’re a golfer and you’re ever in Arizona, you gotta check out these courses. You won’t regret it!
