Okay, so I saw this thing online about figuring out someone’s age in 2023 if they were born in 1984. Sounds simple, right? But I decided to make it a tiny bit more interesting for myself. I’m no math whiz, so I thought, “Let’s see if I can do this without just doing the straight subtraction.”
First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen. I like doing things old-school sometimes. It just feels more… real, you know?
Then, I thought, “Okay, 1984 to 2000, that’s easy.” I counted up 16 years in my head. I even used my fingers, no shame.
- 1984 + 16 = 2000
Next, I figured 2000 to 2023 was another 23 years. That part was super straightforward.
- 2000 + 23 = 2023
Finally, I just added those two numbers together: 16 + 23. Boom! 39. So, someone born in 1984 would be 39 years old in 2023.
The Big Reveal
I checked my work by doing the regular subtraction (2023 – 1984) and yep, it’s 39. I guess there are many ways to skin a cat, or in this case, to calculate an age.
It may not be a big project, or very usefull, but I had a little try. The important thing is to keep the brain working.
