Man, I gotta tell you about this game I went to the other day. It was the SERVPRO First Responder Bowl, and it was Texas State (TXST) versus Rice. I’ve been following TXST for a while now, and this was a big deal because it was their first bowl game ever!

So, I cleared my schedule, got my tickets, and made sure I was at the Ford Stadium for the kickoff. The place was packed, like seriously packed. There were 26,542 people there! It was a new record for the stadium. The energy was electric, you could just feel the excitement in the air.
Now, to get to a bowl game, a team usually needs at least six wins and a .500 winning percentage. I know a lot of the bowls have ended, but I found out that the next one is going to be January 3rd, 2025. It’s the 15th edition of the First Responder Bowl, so that’s something to look forward to.
The game itself? It was awesome! TXST played really well. They were on fire! They ended up beating Rice 45-21. I was so hyped! It was a great way to end the season, and I was super proud to be there to witness it. I even watched the game on ESPN on Tuesday, December 26th at 5:30 PM ET to relive the excitement!
It got me thinking about all the teams in the Sun Belt Conference, where TXST plays. They’ve got some tough competition, but I’m feeling pretty good about next season after seeing them crush it in the bowl game.
Anyways, it was a great experience, and I just had to share it with you all. If you ever get the chance to go to a bowl game, do it! It’s a blast.
