Okay, so I’ve been meaning to get into watching UFC for a while now. I always see clips online of these crazy knockouts and submissions, and it just looks intense. So, this weekend, I finally decided to dive in. I’m calling this little project “bloody fights ufc” because, well, that’s what it is!

Getting Started
First things first, I needed to figure out how to even watch this stuff. I’m not really a cable TV kind of guy.
- I asked around.
- Checked out some online forums.
Turns out.I ended up just watching some prelims to get a feel for it.
The Actual Fights!
Man, these guys and gals are something else. I started by watching some older, “classic” fights. I figured that would be a good way to learn some of the names and the history. The first fight I watched, I literally jumped out of my seat when one fighter landed this spinning backfist. I had no idea who was who, but it was instantly exciting. It’s way more intense than I thought it was.
- I watched like five or six fights in a row, just back-to-back.
- I started to pick up on some of the different fighting styles. Some guys are all about striking, throwing punches and kicks. Others are more into wrestling and grappling, trying to take their opponent down to the ground.
- I even started yelling at the TV a little bit. Don’t judge me!
Seriously the grappling part can be boring if you are not familier with it.
Learning the Ropes (and the Rules)
I’ll be honest, I didn’t know all the rules going in. I mean, I knew the basics – no eye-gouging, no biting, that kind of stuff. But there’s a lot more to it than that. I realized I needed to do a little bit of research.

- I looked up some of the basic rules and scoring criteria.
- I even read the rules on the ufc official site.
- I started to understand how the judges score rounds, and what counts as a significant strike or a successful takedown.
Figuring out the rules makes a difference.
My Takeaway (So Far)
Okay, so I’m still a total newbie. But after this weekend’s experiment, I’m definitely more interested in UFC than I was before. It’s brutal, it’s technical, and it’s surprisingly strategic. I’m going to keep watching, keep learning, and maybe even try to find some local fight cards to check out. This “bloody fights ufc” project is officially underway!
