So, the other day I got thinking about that wild 2013 Brooklyn Nets team. You know, the one with all the hype? It feels like ages ago now. I decided to see if I could actually remember who was on that roster, just from memory first.

Trying to Piece it Together
Okay, so right off the bat, the big names jumped out. You couldn’t forget them, even if you tried. That massive trade brought in Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. They joined the guys already there: Deron Williams at point, Joe Johnson on the wing, and Brook Lopez holding down the center spot. That was the core, the guys plastered everywhere.
But a team’s more than just the starters, right? This is where my memory started getting fuzzy. I remembered thinking they had some decent depth pieces. Who were they again? I sat there for a bit, scribbling on a notepad.
Ah, yes! Andrei Kirilenko! He came over too, took less money. That was a big deal. Then there was Shaun Livingston, before his big break with the Warriors. He was solid off the bench. Let’s see… Andray Blatche had a role, gave them some scoring punch inside. Alan Anderson was one of those glue guys, played hard. I definitely remember Jason Terry being there, the Jet, though maybe not his best season. And they had a rookie big man… Mason Plumlee! Got some minutes.
It took a bit of effort, digging through the mental files. You think you remember these things clearly, but names slip away. I had to double-check myself against some old notes I keep, just to be sure I wasn’t mixing up years.
The Full 2013-14 Roster (As I Recall/Found)
Here’s the list I put together after jogging my memory and checking my records:

- Alan Anderson
- Andray Blatche
- Kevin Garnett
- Joe Johnson
- Andrei Kirilenko
- Shaun Livingston
- Brook Lopez
- Paul Pierce
- Mason Plumlee
- Mirza Teletovic
- Jason Terry
- Deron Williams
- Reggie Evans (Remembered him playing tough!)
- Tyshawn Taylor (Think he was still around?)
- Jorge Gutierrez (Pretty sure he got some time late season)
- Marcus Thornton (Ah, the mid-season trade pickup!)
And of course, rookie head coach Jason Kidd was running the show.
Man, what a team on paper. The expectations were sky-high, the payroll was astronomical. Everyone thought they were title contenders right away. It was exciting, but also kinda crazy. They made the playoffs, beat the Raptors in a tough series, but then ran into LeBron’s Heat. Didn’t quite live up to the massive hype in the end, did they? Still, it was a memorable season, just for the sheer audacity of putting that roster together. Fun little trip down memory lane figuring that out.
