So, I was kicking back the other night, watching the game, you know? And Tatum was on the court, doing his thing. It got me thinking, not just about that one game, but his whole performance when it really counts, in the playoffs. You hear a lot of talk, but I wanted to see the actual numbers for myself.

First thing I did was grab my tablet. Didn’t do anything fancy, just opened up the browser. I typed in something straightforward, probably jayson tatum stats playoffs or something similar. Hit search.
A few sites came up right away. I usually end up clicking on either ESPN or Basketball-Reference. I think this time I went with Basketball-Reference. Their layout is usually pretty packed, but you can find what you need if you look.
I started just looking at his overall playoff averages first. You know, the main stuff.
What I Checked Out
- Points per game
- Rebounds
- Assists
- His shooting numbers, like field goal percentage
It was all there, year by year. It’s interesting to see how the numbers change over his career in the postseason. Sometimes I drill down into specific series too, just clicking through the game logs to see the highs and lows within those matchups. It gives you a better feel than just the averages sometimes.
Found the basic numbers pretty quick. His scoring is usually solid, pulls down good rebounds for his position. The assists and shooting efficiency, well, those can be up and down depending on the series, which is kinda what I expected. It wasn’t rocket science to find this stuff, it’s all laid out there if you take a minute to look.

Anyway, that was my little dive into the stats. It’s always good to check the actual data instead of just going off narratives. Took maybe 10 minutes, and satisfied my curiosity for the moment.
