So yesterday afternoon I was watching highlights from old World Cup matches, right? And suddenly I wondered: who exactly played for the US men’s team back in Brazil 2014? I couldn’t remember half the guys. Figured I’d look it up and jot it down properly.
The Annoying Search Begins
First thing, I popped open my laptop like usual. Went straight to a search bar and typed something dumb like “us soccer team 2014 world cup players”. Dang, too many results. News articles, opinion pieces, useless stuff clogging things up. Clicked open like five tabs, scanned them real quick. Mostly just talked about the team, not the actual list. Got frustrated and closed all those.
Tried again, but smarter this time. Typed “2014 usmnt world cup roster official”. Added that “official” hoping it helps. Scrolled past some junk – clicked on one link that looked promising. Bingo! Finally, a page listing them all properly. Official site thing. Saved that link right away in my browser.
Writing It All Down
Opened a blank doc on my computer. Started copying names over exactly as I saw them. Made sure I got the spellings right. Here’s what the final roster looked like:

Checking My Work
Double-checked every single name against that official page. Didn’t want typos messing it up. Read it out loud slowly – Altidore, Dempsey, Howard… yep, all there. Highlighted Tim Howard and Clint Dempsey ’cause, you know, legends.
Pasted the clean list into my notes app too, so I’ve got it handy next time someone asks. That Ghana game with Brooks scoring? Epic. Whole process took maybe 20 minutes total once I found the right page. Sometimes the simple questions take the longest to answer!
