Okay, so the other day I got thinking about the 2014 World Cup. Remember that? Wild times. Anyway, I couldn’t quite place everyone who was on the US men’s team back then. My memory’s not what it used to be, haha.
So, first thing I did was just grab my laptop. Opened up a browser, you know, the usual routine. Went straight to the search bar and typed in something simple, probably like “US men’s soccer roster 2014 world cup”. Didn’t need anything fancy.
Finding the Actual List
Got a bunch of results back, obviously. Some news articles from back then, highlights, all that stuff. I scrolled past those. I was just looking for a straightforward list of the players. Found a few options that looked promising – maybe a sports site recap or a Wikipedia page, something like that. I tend to trust those for quick facts.
Clicked on one that looked like it just had the squad list. Had to wait a second for it to load, the usual internet stuff.
Checking Out the Squad
And there it was. The list popped up. I started scrolling down, reading off the names.
- Goalkeepers: Tim Howard, Brad Guzan, Nick Rimando. Yep, remembered Howard for sure.
- Defenders: Saw names like DaMarcus Beasley, Matt Besler, John Brooks (that goal against Ghana!), Geoff Cameron, Timmy Chandler, Omar Gonzalez, Fabian Johnson, DeAndre Yedlin. Yedlin was just a young kid then.
- Midfielders: Kyle Beckerman, Alejandro Bedoya, Michael Bradley, Brad Davis, Mix Diskerud, Julian Green (another goal!), Jermaine Jones, Graham Zusi. Jones was a beast in that midfield.
- Forwards: Jozy Altidore, Clint Dempsey, Aron Jóhannsson, Chris Wondolowski. Dempsey, our captain fantastic.
Seeing all those names together really brought back the feel of that tournament. It was cool just running through the list, confirming who was there. Took just a few minutes, really. Found what I was looking for. Yeah, that was the crew we sent to Brazil.
