This darn game, always changing, one day this way, next day that way. I can barely keep up. Now they talking about this OW season thing ending, what’s that all about? I heard it from my neighbor’s kid. He’s always glued to that screen.
He says this season thing, this OW season end, happens every couple of months. Like the changing of the crops, I reckon. You plant in spring, harvest in fall, same old story. Except this one is some game thing. Season 14, they call it. Sounds like a fancy name for something that ain’t even real.
When does this season thing end?
That boy, he said this Season 14 is gonna end in the middle of February 2025. Mark my words, February 2025. That’s what I heard. Feels like a long ways off, don’t it? Plenty of time to plant and harvest, that’s for sure. But for these gamer folks, I guess it’s a big deal. They count the days like we count the eggs from our hens.
And this OW season, they say it’s the 11th one now. Started June 20, 2024. That was a hot day, I remember, the sun was beating down hard. Now, it’s gonna end on August 15. That’s when summer’s starting to fade, the days get shorter. Just like this season thing, I suppose.
- Season 11: Starts June 20, 2024, ends August 15. Hot days.
- Season 12: They say it ends October 15. Like clockwork.
- Season 13: They say this one is ending December 9.
- Season 14: This here one will end mid-February 2025, that’s what I heard.
What’s all the fuss about these seasons?
I asked the boy, “Why all this fuss about these seasons?” He went on and on about some “Battle Pass” and “tiers.” Sounded like a bunch of hogwash to me. Like climbing a ladder, but for what? To get some new clothes for their characters, or some such nonsense. Back in my day, we were happy with a new pair of shoes, not some make-believe clothes for a make-believe person!
They say every nine weeks, new stuff comes out. Nine weeks! That’s like waiting for a cow to calve. And each season has a theme. Like a theme for a county fair, I guess. They get these things called “cosmetics.” Sounds like what the ladies put on their faces. But it’s for the game, not for real life. These kids, I tell ya.
What happens when the OW season ends?
From what I gather, when the OW season end, it’s like turning the page in a calendar. One season ends, another begins. They get new stuff, new challenges, I suppose. Like a new planting season. You gotta learn the new crops, the new ways of doing things. Keeps them busy, I guess. Better than them getting into real trouble, that’s for sure.
They even have something called “Overwatch Classic”. Don’t know what it is but that boy said it is coming when Season 13 is going. They also have something called “Competitive Drives”. That boy was so excited when he said it is also coming back with that “Overwatch Classic”. I do not understand a word but he is happy.
It’s all a big mystery to me
This whole OW season thing is a big mystery to me. But these young folks, they seem to love it. They talk about it like we talk about the weather. It’s their world, I suppose. We had our simple pleasures, they have their fancy games. As long as they’re happy, that’s all that matters.
But still, I can’t help but wonder, what’s the point of it all? Maybe it’s like chasing fireflies on a summer night. It’s fun while it lasts, but in the end, you’re just left with empty hands. But who am I to judge? I’m just an old lady, trying to make sense of this newfangled world. Now, where did I put my knitting needles…?
That’s all I know about this OW season end. Don’t ask me any more questions, I need to go feed my chickens. That boy tried to explain more, but my head was spinning. He mentioned “PT” and “ET” and “BST”. Like a secret code or something. Said something about 10 AM, 1 PM, 6 PM. Maybe that’s when they play their game? I don’t know. And there is also a word “Mythic Deliverance Soldier: 76 Weapon Skin”. I don’t know what it is, but I guess it is something important in that game. Sounds dangerous. I hope those kids are safe playing it.
This game, it is like a whole different language. They are speaking English, but it is not the English I know. They talk about this OW season end like it is the most important thing in the world. Maybe it is, to them. They live in their own world, I guess. We had our simple life, they have their complicated games. As long as they are happy, that is all that matters. Now if you will excuse me, I have chores to do.
