Alright, so here’s the thing. I wanted to know when Jonah’s Bait & Tackle opens today. Simple, right? Should be quick. Famous last words.
First, I just grabbed my phone thinking, “Hey, I’ll just Google it.” Pulled up the search bar, typed in “Jonahs Bait & Tackle hours”. Hit enter. Boom. Got the little box thing at the top showing opening hours. But hold up… it said “Open ⋅ Closes 5PM”. Cool. But what time did it open? It didn’t bloody say!
Figured maybe their Google listing was messed up. Decided to check their actual Google Business Profile. Scrolled down the search results, found the listing, tapped it. Looked at the hours section. Still… only “Closes at 5:00 PM”. Seriously? How hard is it to list the opening time? Now I’m sitting there with my coffee, annoyed before breakfast.
So, my next brilliant idea was, “Fine, I’ll check the official website. That has to have it.” Went straight to my laptop for a proper look. Searched again: “Jonahs Bait & Tackle”. Found their website link in the results and clicked through. Website loads… big pictures of fishing rods, bait buckets, happy anglers. Nice vibe, very folksy. Hunted around. Found the “Contact” page first – phone number, address… sweet. But hours? Nope, not there.
Scrolled back up looking for a “Hours” link. Nothing obvious. Clicked “About Us.” Nope. “Services?” Nah. Found the homepage footer. Scanned all the tiny links down there. Finally… “Store Hours.” Victory! Clicked it.
… And guess what it showed? A bloody PDF document titled “Seasonal Hours 2023” that started downloading. Dude. It’s 2024. Why is a last year’s PDF still linked? Clicked back immediately, frustration levels rising. My coffee’s getting cold now.

Thinking quick (and getting desperate), I remembered I could probably call them. Phone’s right here. Called the number listed everywhere. Rings… rings… rings… “Thanks for calling Jonah’s! We’re either busy helping customers or closed. Call back during store hours, 7AM to 5PM Monday to Saturday.”
… They literally just told me the hours on their own damn voicemail! After ten minutes of clicking and searching, the answering machine spilled the beans: 7 AM.
So yeah. Turns out it’s stupidly hard to quickly find opening hours online sometimes. You’d think it’d be front and center, but nope. Hidden PDFs, broken Google listings, voicemails holding the real info. My takeaway? Sometimes the old-fashioned phone call (or at least listening to the automated message) is the fastest way. Especially for a place named after a whale snack.
