Alright, so I found myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole the other day, and it all started pretty innocently. My kids were watching these YouTube videos, a channel called the Ireland Boys. You’ve probably seen them, two brothers, Ricky and Nick, doing all sorts of challenges and pranks. They’re pretty energetic, that’s for sure.
Anyway, after seeing a few of their clips, the name “Ireland Boys” got me thinking. My first, pretty obvious thought was, “Okay, they must live in Ireland, right?” It’s in the name, after all. Seemed straightforward enough. I pictured them somewhere in Dublin or maybe out in the countryside, dealing with that typically Irish weather.
But then, as I watched a bit more – mostly because the kids had it on repeat – I started noticing things. Their accents, for one. While you can sometimes catch a hint of something, they mostly sounded American to me. And the backgrounds in their videos… lots of sunshine, palm trees in some shots, the style of the houses. It just didn’t quite scream “Emerald Isle” to me, if you know what I mean. More like, well, somewhere much sunnier and stereotypically American.
So, my curiosity got the better of me. I thought, “Let me just do a quick search.” You know how it is. One quick search turns into another, and then another. I started by just looking up their channel info, seeing if they mentioned a location in their bio or anything. Not much luck there initially, they keep it pretty general.
I then moved on to looking at some of their older vlogs. Sometimes, in older content, people are a bit less careful about showing local landmarks or street signs, that sort of thing. I also skimmed through comments on various videos and social media posts, because fans often discuss these things. It’s like a little investigation, piecing together clues.
I saw a lot of fan speculation. Some people were as confused as I was initially, thinking they were based in Ireland. Others were pretty insistent they were in the US.
After a bit more digging, looking at articles about them and some dedicated fan pages, a clearer picture started to emerge. It seems the “Ireland” part of their name refers to their family heritage, their Irish roots, which is pretty common for many Americans.
So, where do they actually set up shop?
From everything I could gather, and the general consensus online, it appears the Ireland Boys are actually based in the United States. More specifically, the evidence strongly points to them residing in Florida. This made a lot more sense with the sunny weather, the types of locations they often use for their outdoor challenges, and even the general vibe of their content.
It seems they’ve been there for quite some time. So, despite the name, if you’re looking for them on the map, you’d be looking at the Sunshine State, not the coast of Ireland. It’s a classic case of a name hinting at heritage rather than current geography. Mystery solved, at least for me! It was an interesting little detour for an afternoon.
