Okay, so today I’m gonna talk about my experience messing around with Desailly in my team. You know, Marcel Desailly, that rock-solid defender. I’ve been wanting to try him out for ages, and finally got the chance, so here’s the lowdown.

First off, I watched a bunch of videos, you know, highlight reels and reviews and stuff. Everyone was saying how good he was, like a brick wall in defense. That got me hyped! I remember seeing him play back in the day, winning the World Cup and Euros with France. Total legend!
Then I jumped in and started playing. Honestly, the first few games were rough. I was trying to play him like some fancy, ball-playing defender, and he’s just not that guy. He’s a destroyer, pure and simple. So, I had to change my whole style of play.
Here’s what I started doing:
- Positioning: I kept him central, right in the heart of the defense. No roaming around. Just stay put and be ready to intercept.
- Tackling: Went in hard! Desailly’s got the strength and the aggression. Slide tackles, shoulder barges, you name it. Clean but firm.
- Passing: Short and simple passes to the midfielders. No risky long balls. Get the ball out of defense and let the creative players do their thing.
Once I got that sorted, things started clicking. Man, he was a beast! Strikers were bouncing off him. He was winning every header. Interceptions galore! It was like having a bodyguard in my backline. Seriously, it was great to see him bossing the defense just like he did back in the 90s.
There were still some hiccups, of course. Sometimes he’d get caught out of position, or make a clumsy foul. But overall, he was a game-changer. He brought a level of physicality and aggression to my team that I was seriously missing. He is not the fastest defender, so be aware of that.

I even messed around with his chemistry style. Started with Shadow to boost his pace, but then switched to Anchor for the extra strength and aggression. I think Anchor suits him better. Makes him even more of a tank!
So, yeah, that’s my Desailly experience. It took a bit of tweaking and adjusting my playstyle, but it was definitely worth it. If you’re looking for a no-nonsense, rock-solid defender, give him a try. You won’t be disappointed. Just remember to play to his strengths and keep it simple!
Anyway, that’s all for today! Let me know if you guys have any questions or if you’ve tried Desailly out yourself. I’m always up for a chat about football!
