Alright, so the other day, “Wild Thing” popped into my head. You know the one. Classic tune. It just got stuck there, looping over and over. Happened after hearing it on some oldies station I think. Anyway, I realized I didn’t actually know all the words properly. I could mumble along to the main parts, sure, but the rest? Bit fuzzy.

So, I figured, gotta sort this out. Fired up the computer, went to my usual search spot. Typed in something simple like “lyrics wild thing”.
First Pass – Lots of Noise
Man, the results page just exploded. Loads of sites claiming to have the lyrics. Some looked okay, others looked like they were slapped together in five minutes back in 1998. You gotta be careful with those sometimes, full of ads or just plain wrong.
Then I remembered, isn’t there like, the main version by The Troggs, and didn’t Hendrix do a famous cover? Which one was I even thinking of? Probably The Troggs’ original hit. Okay, needed to be more specific.
Getting Specific
Tried again. This time I searched for “the troggs wild thing lyrics”. That seemed to help filter out some of the noise. Found a few sites that looked a bit more reliable. You know, the ones that actually look like they care about song lyrics.
- Checked the first decent-looking result.
- Read through the lyrics. Seemed about right.
- Compared it to another site just to be sure.
They mostly matched up, which was a good sign. Still, the best way to know for sure is to listen along.
Listening and Confirming
So I pulled up the actual song by The Troggs. Hit play. Read the lyrics I found as the song went on. Yep, that felt right. All the “Wild thing, I think I love you” and “You make my heart sing” parts were there. That weird little talking bit in the middle too.
It’s funny how simple the lyrics actually are when you see them written down. Mostly repetition, but man, it works. It’s catchy as heck. Found out too that the song wasn’t even written by The Troggs, but by some American songwriter named Chip Taylor. Never knew that before.
Sorted!
So yeah, mission accomplished. Got the proper lyrics now. Copied them into a little text file just in case. Now I can confidently belt it out next time it comes on, instead of just humming the ocarina solo part. Maybe I’ll even figure out the chords on guitar. Seems like it’d be pretty easy, right?
