Alright, so I decided to check out the golf scene down in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, a while back. You hear a lot about it, especially with the whole Disney thing nearby, so I figured, why not give it a shot? I’m always up for trying new courses, even if they come with a bit of hype.

Getting Started and First Impressions
First things first, I had to actually book a tee time. Wasn’t as simple as just showing up, you know? I poked around online, found a couple of options, and then had to call to confirm. Seemed like a bit of a process, but eventually, I got a time locked in. I headed over there, and the place looked pretty much what you’d expect for a resort area – everything trying to look pristine.
I got to the course, which one was it? Honestly, the names all kind of blend together after a while. They all have these fancy, nature-sounding names. Anyway, I got my cart, loaded up my bag, and headed to the driving range to warm up a bit. The range was decent enough, plenty of space, which is always good. Didn’t want to feel like I was hitting on top of someone else.
Out on the Course
So, I finally got out on the first tee. The course itself, well, it was well-maintained, I’ll give them that. The fairways were pretty lush, and the greens were fast. Almost too fast for my liking at times, but that’s just me. I prefer greens that don’t feel like you’re putting on glass.
Played my round, had some good shots, had some bad ones. You know how it goes.
- Lost a couple of balls to the water hazards. There’s plenty of water down there in Florida, and these courses are no exception.
- Saw some interesting birds, maybe even a small gator lounging by one of the ponds. Always adds a little something to the round when you see some local wildlife.
- The layout was challenging enough, made me think about my shots, which I appreciate. Didn’t feel like just a grip-it-and-rip-it kind of place.
The pace of play was okay, a little slow in spots, but that’s pretty standard for popular courses in tourist areas. Lots of people out there trying to enjoy the Florida sun and hit a few balls. Can’t really blame them. I just tried to stay patient and focus on my own game.

The Aftermath and Thoughts
After finishing up 18, I headed back to the clubhouse. Overall, it was a decent day of golf. Was it the most amazing, life-changing golf experience I’ve ever had? Probably not. But it was solid. You’re definitely paying a bit of a premium for the location and the name, that’s for sure. Everything in that area seems to have that little extra cost baked in.
My main takeaway is that if you’re in Lake Buena Vista and you’re itching to play some golf, there are definitely options. They’re kept in good shape, and you’ll get a pretty typical Florida resort golf experience. Just be prepared for the crowds and the price tag that comes with it. For me, it was another course ticked off the list, another story to tell. And hey, I didn’t completely embarrass myself, so I’ll take that as a win.
