Okay, so, I’ve been messing around with my Honda Monkey for a while now, and I gotta say, it’s been a blast. I picked up this little 2021 model a while back, and at first, I was just riding it stock. But then, you know how it is, you start getting that itch to make it your own. So I dove headfirst into the world of Honda Monkey mods.

First things first, I knew I needed some basic tools to get started. I grabbed my trusty socket set and made sure I had all the right sizes. I didn’t want to be stuck halfway through a mod with the wrong tool, you know?
Handlebars
- I started small, focusing on the handlebar area.
- I found some cool KITACO clutch and throttle cables online, ordered them up, and swapped them in.
- It was a pretty straightforward process, just disconnecting the old ones and routing the new ones through.
- The stainless throttle cable was a nice touch, felt a lot smoother than the stock one.
Exhaust and Intake
- Next up, I wanted to give the Monkey a little more oomph.
- I went with a TB full exhaust and a TB cam.
- And to make sure the engine got all the air it needed, I added an M-take intake.
- Installing the exhaust was a bit more involved, but with the help of my socket set and a few online tutorials, I got it done.
After buttoning everything back up, I took the Monkey out for a spin. Man, what a difference! The new exhaust gave it a throatier growl, and it felt like it had a bit more pep in its step. The new intake and cam really opened the engine up, and it was pulling harder than before.
I’m not stopping there, though. I’ve got a whole list of other mods I want to try out. I’ve been eyeing some new wheels, maybe some suspension upgrades, and definitely a custom paint job. It’s a never-ending project, but that’s what makes it so fun. It’s like a blank canvas, and I get to be the artist, you know?
Anyway, that’s my Honda Monkey mod journey so far. It’s been a great way to learn more about my bike and really make it my own. If you’re thinking about modding your Monkey, I say go for it! Just remember to take your time, do your research, and most importantly, have fun with it.
