Yesterday, I tried to watch the football game between Notre Dame and Virginia Tech. I’ve been trying to catch more games recently, and this one was on my list.

So, I started by checking when the game was scheduled. Turns out, it was on Saturday, November 16, 2024. I got my snacks ready and made some time in my schedule. Then I needed to figure out where I could watch it. It said that the game would be aired on NBC and also streamed on Peacock. Great, I have both! I was all set.
I did a little reading beforehand, just to see what the predictions were like. Notre Dame was a heavy favorite, favored by 21 points! The over/under was set at 51, whatever that means. I also saw some comments about how the term “Fighting Irish” came about. It was linked to “Irish immigrant soldiers who fought for the Union during the Civil War,” which I thought was pretty cool.
Then I found some other random information, like an article talking about a volleyball game between Notre Dame and Virginia Tech, where they mentioned that Notre Dame was hosting their final home match of the regular season. Sounds interesting, but I am really just here for the football.
- Find the game schedule – Check the date and time for the game.
- Find where to watch – Figure out which channel or streaming service.
- Do some pre-game reading – Look up predictions and some background info.
- Ignore unrelated stuff – Skip over the volleyball game info, focus on football.
When it was finally game time, I tuned in to NBC and got ready to watch. Then I found out that the game is scheduled for 2024, not 2023. What a bummer! So I ended up watching something else, but I’m definitely marking my calendar for next year’s game!
Then I found out the match I wanted to watch was actually played on October 9, 2021, and I even found some stats and highlights. So, maybe I can find the replay somewhere. It seemed like a pretty exciting match, especially with Notre Dame taking over on VT 18, whatever that means.

Anyway, what a mess! I finally ended up watching other replays and clips of the Irish.
My main takeaways from this whole experience:
- Always double-check the year of the game.
- There’s a lot of random info out there, so focus on what you’re looking for.
- Even if you miss the live game, you can still catch highlights later.
That’s it for my adventure in trying to watch the Notre Dame vs. Virginia Tech game. Hope you found my little story somewhat entertaining or at least relatable. See ya next time!
