Man, things have been wild lately with the Cowboys, huh? So, I had this whole thing planned out. I was gonna dive deep into their quarterback situation. You know, with Dak Prescott out, it’s been a real scramble to figure out who’s gonna step up. And let me tell you, it’s been a journey figuring it all out.
First off, I started digging into who was even available. Right off the bat, I remembered Cooper Rush. That guy’s been around, and he’s no rookie. He’s the number two on the depth chart, so it was pretty obvious he was gonna get the first crack at it. I mean, the dude has stepped in before when Dak went down and actually did alright, so it’s not like he’s untested.
Then I went down this rabbit hole of looking at Rush’s history, you know? Checking out his stats, how he’s performed under pressure and there are a lot of records. And honestly, it wasn’t too bad. He’s won a few games, kept the team afloat, all that. I was thinking, “Okay, maybe this isn’t so bad.” But you know how it is, it’s the NFL, and anything can happen.

- Compared his performance with other backups in the league.
But then, I started thinking about the long term. What if Dak’s out for longer? What’s the plan then? So, I started looking at who else was on the roster. They brought back Will Grier, who’s now the third-stringer. I did some digging on him too. It seemed like he’s there just in case things go south with Rush or to have another option if things drag on.
After that, I kinda got sidetracked looking at all sorts of backup QB rankings and articles. It was interesting to see where everyone thought the Cowboys stood compared to other teams. Some folks were optimistic, others not so much. There was this one list that had Andy Dalton as an “elite option” for the Cowboys a while back, which made me chuckle a bit.

Anyway, I spent hours piecing all this together, trying to get a clear picture. It was a lot of reading, comparing, and, well, speculating. I mean, who knows how it’ll really play out? But it was fun to dive into all of it and try to make sense of the Cowboys’ QB situation.
In the end, I realized it all comes down to how Rush performs and if he can keep the team competitive. They are putting a lot of faith in him, and I guess we will see if it pays off. I am also curious to see if they give Trey Lance a shot at some point. It is definitely an interesting time for the Cowboys, and I am here for all of it. It is like a puzzle, and I was just trying to fit all the pieces together to see the bigger picture.
