Okay, so, I wanted to try out that “Baldur’s Gate 3” game with my buddies. But we ran into a little snag – not all of us are on the same gaming platform. Some of us are PC gamers, some are on PlayStation 5, and there’s even one guy stuck with an Xbox Series X. So, the big question was: can we actually play together? That’s what got me digging into this whole “cross-play” thing.

Baldurs Gate 3 Cross Play: How to Play with Friends No Matter the Platform

First, I grabbed my phone and started googling around. I typed in “Baldur’s Gate 3 cross-play” and scrolled through a bunch of articles and forum posts. Turns out, it’s a bit of a mixed bag. I learned that the game doesn’t fully support cross-play across all platforms yet.

I dug deeper and found out that PC and PS5 players can play together. That was good news for most of us. But the Xbox guy? Yeah, he was out of luck, at least for now. There are not any official words on if Xbox cross-play will be added to the game.

Next, I checked out the official Baldur’s Gate 3 website and some gaming news sites. They pretty much confirmed what I had already found. PC and PS5, yeah, that works. But not with Xbox.

So, what did we do? Well, we decided to give it a shot with those of us on PC and PS5. I launched the game on my PC, and my friend fired it up on his PS5. We created a multiplayer lobby and used the in-game system to invite each other. And guess what? It worked! We were in the same game, exploring the world and fighting monsters together.

It was pretty cool, to be honest. Even though we couldn’t play with our Xbox friend, it was still a blast playing with everyone else. Hopefully they’ll add full cross-play support in the future, so everyone can join in, no matter what platform they’re on. But for now, we are able to play together on PC and PS5 which is cool enough.

Baldurs Gate 3 Cross Play: How to Play with Friends No Matter the Platform
  • Launched “Baldur’s Gate 3” on PC.
  • Invited PS5 friends to a multiplayer lobby.
  • Successfully played the game together.
  • Confirmed that Xbox cross-play is not currently supported.
  • Hoping for full cross-play support in the future.

It wasn’t all smooth sailing, but I figured out how cross-play works in “Baldur’s Gate 3.” It’s a start, and I’m excited to see what they do with it in the future.
