Today I’m gonna talk about my 2016 Honda Grom. Yeah, this little beast has been a fun ride, and I’ve got a few stories to share about it.

So, first off, I stumbled upon this bike back in 2016. It was bone stock, only 200 miles on it, and the guy was asking for 2900 bucks. I offered 2500, and boom, it was mine. I live in upstate NY, and let me tell you, this thing is a blast for zipping around town.
Getting Started
- Finding the Bike: I was actually checking out some dual sports, but then this Grom caught my eye.
- Making the Deal: Offered 2500 for a nearly new 2016 model.
Working on It
Now, about the bike itself. This Grom is known for being super reliable. It’s got a 125cc engine, and the thing just doesn’t break. Low revs mean less wear and tear, which is great. Plus, it’s a breeze to work on. There are tons of videos out there on YouTube for stuff like oil changes and valve adjustments. I watched a bunch of these, took it step by step, and it was all good.
- Maintenance: Learned how to do basic maintenance myself by watching videos.
- Reliability: This bike just keeps going, no major issues.
Performance and Riding
This thing is surprisingly quick. It can hit around 55-73 mph, which is plenty for city riding. The fuel economy is insane, too – we’re talking 134 mpg. I mean, I can ride for days without filling up. It’s perfect for carving up the streets and getting around quickly.
- Riding: Zipping around town, hitting decent speeds, and having a blast.
- Fuel Efficiency: Seriously, the mileage on this thing is crazy good.
Why I Chose It
Honestly, I was torn between this and a Surron. But the Grom’s compact design and fuel efficiency won me over. It’s just so practical for city life. It is just so cool. Plus, the older models, like this 2016 one, are apparently more desirable, so that’s a bonus.
- Decision Making: Weighed the pros and cons compared to other bikes.
- Final Choice: The Grom’s practicality and coolness factor sealed the deal.
So, yeah, that’s my experience with the 2016 Honda Grom. It’s been a fantastic little bike, easy to maintain, fun to ride, and just all-around awesome. If you’re thinking about getting one, I’d say go for it, especially if you can find a good deal on an older model.
