Today, I was thinking about diving into the story of Ismail Muhammad. So, I started digging around, trying to piece together who this guy really was.
First off, I found out that Ismail is a pretty big deal in Islam. Turns out, he’s seen as an ancestor to some major Arab tribes up north and he’s also linked to Adnan, who is Muhammad’s forefather. And get this, Muslims believe that Muhammad himself is a descendant of Ismail, and that he was destined to start a great nation. That’s a lot to take in, right?
I then learned that Muhammad was the one chosen to deliver God’s word through divine revelations. Because of this, Muslims everywhere try their best to follow his example. After the Qur’an, Muhammad’s sayings (hadith) and the descriptions of his life (sunna) are super important texts for Muslims.

Both Ibrahim and Ismail were totally willing to go through with it, showing their complete obedience to Allah. It’s a heavy story, but it really shows the depth of their faith.
I also discovered that Ismail was born and raised in Abraham’s house. But about 13 years later, Sarah, Abraham’s wife, had Isaac, and God made a covenant with him. Isaac ended up being Abraham’s main heir, and Ismail and his mom, Hagar, were sent off to the desert. It’s kind of a sad twist, isn’t it?
