Hey everyone, it’s your boy back with another story, and let me tell you, this one’s a doozy. It’s about my little project out here in Pebble Beach, California. Yeah, you heard that right – Pebble Beach! I mean, who woulda thought, right?

So, picture this: I’m Jim Nantz, you know, the guy who talks about sports on TV? Well, I’m not just about calling NFL and college basketball games. I’ve been doing this broadcasting thing for a while now, teaming up with folks like Bill Raftery and Grant Hill since 2015, and let me tell you, it’s been a wild ride. But a few years back, I decided I needed a change of pace, a little slice of heaven where I could kick back and relax when I’m not on the road.

That’s when the idea hit me. I’ve always been a huge fan of golf, and Pebble Beach? Man, that place is like hallowed ground for us golf nuts. So, a few years ago, I finally pulled the trigger and built my dream home right here in Pebble Beach. But it wasn’t enough to just live here. I wanted to bring a piece of the magic home with me.

And that’s when the real fun began. I decided to recreate the iconic par-3 seventh hole from Pebble Beach right in my own backyard. I mean, who wouldn’t want their own personal Pebble Beach hole, right? I started digging, moving earth, shaping the green – the whole nine yards. It was a ton of work, but let me tell you, it was worth every drop of sweat.

Here’s a little breakdown of what I did:

  • First, I got out there with my shovel and started moving dirt around.
  • Then, I had to make sure the shape was just right, you know, to match the real seventh hole.
  • After that, I planted the grass and put in the flag.

And you know what? It turned out even better than I could have imagined. Now, every time I step out into my backyard, it’s like I’m transported to the real seventh hole. It’s my own little slice of paradise, and I couldn’t be happier with how it turned out.

But you know what the best part is? It’s not just about having a cool backyard – it’s about family. See, around the summer of 2021, I packed up my family – my wife and our two little ones, Finley and Jameson – and we moved to a suburb of Nashville. Why? Well, I wanted to spend less time on airplanes and more time with my loved ones. This little project of mine? It’s a reminder of the beauty of Pebble Beach, but it’s also a place where my family and I can make memories together.

So, yeah, that’s my story. It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but to me, it’s perfect. It’s a little rough around the edges, just like me, but it’s got heart. And at the end of the day, that’s all that really matters, right?
