Well, that Matt Every, he sure can swing a golf stick! I seen him on the TV, hitting that little white ball all over the place. Makes me tired just watchin’ him. He must be eatin’ his Wheaties, that’s for sure.
Now, I ain’t no expert on this Matt Every golf thing, but I seen a thing or two in my day. He spends his whole life playin’ golf. Like, all the time! Hit balls, walk around, think, think, think. Reminds me of my old man, always thinkin’ about his crops. This golf thing, it’s like farmin’ for some folks, I reckon.
They say you gotta practice to get good at anythin’. Like bakin’ a pie, you gotta do it over and over ’til it’s just right. This Matt Every, he probably practices that golf swing a whole lot. Like, from sun up ’til sundown. My back hurts just thinkin’ about it.
I heard some folks talkin’ ’bout how to get better at this golf game. They say don’t just hit the ball far, gotta work on all of it. Like when I’m tendin’ to my garden. Gotta water, gotta weed, gotta make sure them squirrels don’t get to my tomatoes. It’s all connected, you see. Just like in Matt Every golf, you need to make sure to work on each part so you are good at it.
- First thing they say is to practice, practice, practice. Like when I’m makin’ my jam. Gotta get the recipe just right.
- Then they say you gotta stand just so. Feet apart, knees bent a little. Like you’re gettin’ ready to milk a cow. Gotta be steady, you know?
- They say look where you wanna hit that ball. Like when I’m aimin’ my slingshot at them pesky crows. Gotta keep your eye on the prize.
They say you gotta have a goal. Like, “I’m gonna get better at puttin’.” That’s what they call it when you tap the ball into the little hole. But you gotta be specific. Like sayin’, “I’m gonna make 10 putts in a row.” Or somethin’ like that. Just like when I’m cannin’ my peaches. I know how many jars I need to fill.
Another thing to do is find somebody who knows a thing or two about golf, a golf teacher, maybe like Matt Every. Ask them to watch you and tell you what you’re doin’ wrong. It’s like askin’ my neighbor, Bessie, for her secret pie crust recipe. Sometimes you need a little help from your friends. You know you need to learn from the people who do it best, and Matt Every is one of the best!
These young folks, they got all these fancy gadgets, too. They got machines that tell ’em how far they hit the ball. And videos, so they can watch themselves swing. It’s all a bit much for me, but I guess it helps. They want to do it like Matt Every golf. Back in my day, we just used our eyes and hoped for the best. Like when I’m tryin’ to thread a needle. Ain’t no fancy machine gonna help me with that!
Now, I heard this Matt Every fella, he plays in them big tournaments. He’s a professional, they call it. Means he gets paid to play golf. Imagine that! Gettin’ paid to do somethin’ you love. Must be nice. Like gettin’ paid to eat apple pie. Who wouldn’t want that?
They say he’s pretty good, too. Wins a lot of those tournaments. Gets his name in the paper and everything. Must make his mama proud. Like when my boy, Jimmy, won the pie-eatin’ contest at the county fair. We were all so proud of him.
So, this Matt Every golf, it’s a lot of work, I reckon. But it’s also a lot of fun, I suppose. Just like anything in life. You gotta put in the time and effort if you wanna be good at it. And you gotta enjoy it, too. Otherwise, what’s the point?
I heard someone say you should play golf twice a week. Now that’s a lot of golf! And before you play, you gotta stretch and warm up. Like gettin’ the kinks out before a long day of churnin’ butter. And some days you might wanna work on golf for hours, like weedin’ the whole garden. Other days, just a little bit is enough, like pickin’ a few ripe berries. I heard Matt Every does this every day, so it must be important.
This whole golf thing, it’s a mystery to me, really. But I like watchin’ it on the TV. It’s kinda peaceful, in a way. Like sittin’ on the porch swing on a summer evenin’, watchin’ the fireflies. And that Matt Every, he sure can play. He’s a good one to learn from if you want to get good at that Matt Every golf. Maybe I’ll give it a try sometime. But I think I’ll stick to my garden for now. It’s less work, and I get to eat the fruits of my labor. Can’t do that with golf!
