I wanted to make a drawing of the lmdh acura, so I grabbed my tools and started.

First, I pulled up a bunch of pictures of the car on my computer. You know, to get a good look at it from all angles. This car is called a ‘Hypercar’, which is a name for the FIA WEC’s new top class, and it includes LMH and LMDH cars. It’s not easy to participate in the Hypercar class, because you must be related to a car brand.
Then, I started sketching the basic shape of the car on my paper. I just roughed it out at first, no details yet. Just wanted to get the proportions right, you know?
Once I was happy with the basic outline, I started adding in some of the bigger details. Like, I drew in the wheels, the windows, and that big front wing thingy. I saw someone online saying it’s the worst-looking of all the Hypercars and LMDh, and the front wing looks like an afterthought. But I think it’s okay, maybe a bit weird.
After that, I went over my lines with a darker pencil, to make them stand out more. Then came the fun part – shading! I started shading in the darker areas of the car, to give it some depth and make it look more 3D.
I spent a good chunk of time just shading and blending, trying to get the shadows and highlights just right. It’s not as easy as it looks! There’s a lot of subtle stuff going on with the light and reflections on a car like this.

- First, outline the car.
- Then, add details.
- Next, darken the lines.
- Finally, shade and blend.
I saw some fan-made designs online, and all of them have some visual aspects from current LMH/LMDh cars, but they are mostly original designs. One of them called ‘Ichigo’ was heavily real-life influenced, they said.
The Result
Finally, after a few hours, I was done! It’s not perfect, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It definitely looks like the lmdh acura, which is what I was going for. It is a little rough around the edges and not a masterpiece, but a good drawing for me.
I might try drawing some other cars in the future. Maybe that ‘Ichigo’ one.
