Hey everyone, I’ve been messing around with my Kawasaki Ninja 650 lately, and one thing I really wanted to figure out was its actual weight. You know, the real-world weight, not just what the manual says. So, I did a little experiment, and I thought I’d share my process and findings with you all.

Ninja 650 Weight Compared: How Does It Stack Up Against Rivals

Getting Started

First off, I made sure my Ninja 650 was completely stock. No aftermarket parts or anything that could change the weight. I wanted to get the most accurate baseline measurement possible.

The Weigh-In

  • I took my bike to a local industrial scale – the kind they use for weighing big trucks and stuff. I figured that would be accurate enough for what I needed.
  • Before riding onto the scale, I zeroed it out to make sure we weren’t including any extra weight.
  • Then, I rode my Ninja 650 onto the scale, making sure both wheels were completely on it. I stayed on the bike to simulate real riding conditions, you know?
  • The scale read out a number, and I jotted it down right away. It was important to do this a few times to make sure the readings were consistent.

Doing the Math

After getting off the scale, I needed to subtract my own weight from the total. I hopped on a regular bathroom scale to get my weight and then did some simple subtraction. The result was the actual wet weight of my Ninja 650.

From what I found online, the number should be somewhere around 423 pounds. And guess what? My measurement was pretty darn close to that!

Comparing Notes

I did a bit of digging online and found that the official wet weight of a Ninja 650 is indeed listed as 423 pounds. It was cool to see that my DIY method got me pretty close to the official number. Also, I learned that this bike has a 649cc engine and can go up to about 131 mph – pretty neat!

Wrapping Up

It was a fun little project, and it gave me a better understanding of my bike. Knowing the actual weight is helpful for things like figuring out fuel efficiency and how the bike handles. Plus, it’s just cool to know, right? I’m also curious about things like the power and torque, which are apparently around 68 horsepower and 47.2 lb-ft. I might look into that next!
