Okay, so today I wanted to mess around with some word puzzles. The idea popped into my head to find a 5-letter word that contains both “u” and “r”. Sounds simple enough, right? Well, let me tell you, it turned into a bit of a rabbit hole, but a fun one!

First, I grabbed a pen and paper, ’cause I’m old school like that. I started jotting down any 5-letter words I could think of that had a “u” in them. Then I circled the ones that also had an “r”. Let me tell you, my list wasn’t very long at first. I came up with words like “hurry” and “under”. Not bad, but I knew there had to be more.
So, I hopped online. I figured there must be some word list out there that could help me. I typed in some search phrases like “5 letter words with u and r” and hit enter. Boom! A bunch of websites popped up.
- One site had a whole list of 5-letter words with “u” and “r”. There were a ton! Words like “yours”, “truth”, “hours”, “trust” – way more than I thought of on my own.
- Another site was more of a word finder tool. You could put in the letters you wanted to use, and it would generate all the possible words. Pretty neat, I must say.
I spent a good chunk of time browsing through these lists, writing down some of the more interesting words I found. Learned a few new ones too, which is always a plus. Who knew there were so many 5-letter words with “u” and “r”?
My Findings
After my little online adventure, I compiled quite the list. Here’s a little taste of what I discovered:
- Common ones: Under, Hurry, Yours, Round, Group, Court
- Less common ones: Furry, Purge, Burst, Curvy, Lurch
- Some I didn’t even know: Kauri, Aurum, Juror
It’s actually pretty amazing how many words fit the criteria. It made me realize how much fun you can have with words, even simple ones. I guess the key takeaway from this experience is that there are always new ways to learn and explore, even with simple things like 5-letter words. And hey, maybe this will help me up my Wordle game!

Anyway, that’s my little word adventure for today. Hope you found it somewhat interesting. Might try another letter combo tomorrow. Who knows what I’ll find!
