That Time I Caught the Magic vs. Hawks Game
Man, thinking about that Magic versus Hawks matchup takes me back. Wasn’t even planning on going, you know? It was one of those Tuesdays, felt like dragging. Work was work. Then my buddy texts, “Got an extra ticket, Magic-Hawks tonight, you in?”
Now, I’m not the biggest die-hard fan you’ll meet. I follow along, sure, but dropping everything for a midweek game? Usually not my style. But something felt different. Maybe it was just the week I was having. Needed a break. So, I thought, what the heck.
Getting there was the first mission. You know how downtown traffic is on game night. Absolute mess. Left work a bit early, still crawled along the highway. Found parking like three blocks away, paid way too much for it too. That’s just how it goes, I guess. You gotta commit.
Inside the arena, though, that’s where it changed. You feel that buzz, you know? Everyone packed in, the noise, the lights. It wakes you up. We grabbed some food, the usual overpriced stuff, but it hit the spot.
The game itself? Honestly, it’s kind of a blur in parts. Lots of back and forth. I remember getting really into it during the third quarter. Standing up, yelling with everyone else. Wasn’t even about who won or lost at that point. It was just… being there. Sharing that energy.

What really stuck with me, though? It wasn’t some amazing dunk or a game-winning shot. It was just the feeling of being out, doing something totally unplanned. Breaking the routine. Felt good. Sometimes you just gotta say yes to stuff, even if it’s a hassle getting there. That whole experience, from the text message to finding the car afterwards, it was just a solid reminder to shake things up once in a while. Totally worth the traffic.
