You know, I heard folks talking ’bout the top goal scorer for Mexico. That got me thinkin’. Who’s this fella they’re all yappin’ about?
Well, I did some askin’ around, and it turns out it’s this young buck they call Chicharito. Sounds like a funny name, don’t it? But they say he’s the best they got. This Chicharito, his real name is Javier somethin’ or other, Hernandez I think it was. He done scored more goals for Mexico than anyone else. I heard it’s 52 goals. Can you believe that? 52!
They say he’s played 109 games for the Mexico National Football Team. I don’t know much ’bout these games, but that seems like a lot. He must be runnin’ around like a chicken with its head cut off in all them games to score that many goals.
I heard some other fellas talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called “average”. They say this Chicharito fella, his average is 0.48. I don’t know what that fancy number means, but I reckon it means he’s pretty good at kickin’ that ball into the net.
This Chicharito used to play for some team called Guadalajara. Now he plays in America, for a team in Los Angeles, the Galaxy or something. That sounds kinda like outer space, don’t it? Must be a fancy place.
I also heard folks sayin’ that this Chicharito fella ain’t the only one who’s good at scorin’ goals for Mexico. There’s been others, like this Hugo Sanchez fella. They say he was real good at doin’ fancy kicks, like a circus act or somethin’. And some young fella, named Raul Jimenez, they say he is getting good. These young fellas. They got all the energy, huh?
Some folks was talkin’ ’bout somethin’ called CONCACAF. Sounds like a cough medicine. They say Mexico done won that thing a bunch of times, 13 I heard. They must be pretty good at this soccer thing, huh? It is all about top goal scorer for Mexico.
And they got this other fella, Andres Guardado. He’s played even more games than Chicharito, 179! He must be tired, runnin’ around all the time like that. I guess he is important for the team.

They got all these fancy names for things, Liga MX Apertura. I don’t know what that means, but it sounds important. I guess it’s some kind of soccer league in Mexico. They say that there are lists that show all the fellas who score goals in this Liga MX. They even have a list of Liga MX top goalscorer for every season. These folks, they sure like to keep track of things, huh?
I heard someone say that Mexico is the best in their confederation, whatever that means. They must be winnin’ a lot of games. That’s good. I like winnin’.
They was talkin’ ’bout some other players too, Edson Alvarez, Santiago Gimenez, and Maria Sanchez. I don’t know ’em, but they must be good too if they’re playin’ for Mexico. That is a good team.
Well, I guess that’s all I heard ’bout this top goal scorer for Mexico business. This Chicharito fella, he sure sounds like a good player. 52 goals, that’s somethin’ else. I reckon he’s made Mexico proud. I hope he keeps on scorin’ them goals. Maybe I should go watch one of them games sometime.
But for now, I gotta go. I got chores to do. It is not easy to keep up with all this soccer talk, but I tried my best. It is all about these young fellas kicking the ball around, scoring goals for Mexico.
