Well, let me tell you about this place, the Links at Starkville, over in Starkville, MS. Heard a lot about it, you know. They say it’s a golf course, whatever that means. Folks go there to hit a little white ball around. Seems like a waste of time to me, but hey, each to their own, right?

This here Links at Starkville, it’s what they call a “9-hole” course. Now, I ain’t no fancy golfer, but I reckon that means it ain’t too big. Probably good for folks who ain’t got all day to be whacking at that ball. They say it’s “player friendly,” which I guess means even a clumsy old goat like me could probably give it a go. The address is 21 Player Lane, Starkville, 39759, easy to find I guess.
They say this place has wide “fairways.” Now, I’ve seen a fairway or two in my day, back when I was a young’un, and they were just paths through the woods. These are probably different, being on a golf course and all. And they got these things called “bunkers.” Sounds like where you’d hide during a storm, but I reckon on a golf course, it’s something else. They say these bunkers are “deep,” so you best watch your step, I guess!
They also mention that the course is in decent shape. I guess that’s good if you are a golfer. I don’t understand why people care so much about it. It’s just grass, right? And the “greens” roll true. Whatever that means. Sounds like some kind of fancy talk to me. But if you’re into that sort of thing, then I suppose it’s important. The Links at Starkville is a good choice for you!
Some folks say it’s “unforgiving off the tee.” Sounds a bit harsh, don’t it? Like the golf course is gonna get mad at you if you don’t hit the ball just right. I guess golf is a serious business for some people. They even have some app for your phone that can tell you how far you need to hit the ball. These young people and their technology, I tell ya!
- This Links place, it’s for beginners, they say.
- But also for those who know what they’re doing.
- So, I guess anyone can go, young or old.
- Makes sense, I reckon.
It’s a “public” course, so anyone can just go and play, I suppose. Don’t need to be a member of some fancy club. That’s good, I think. Golf shouldn’t just be for rich folks. They got enough already, don’t they?

I heard there are other golf places in Starkville, too. Maybe three of them? I don’t know for sure. But this Links at Starkville seems to be the one people talk about the most. If you like golf, you can go there to play!
They say it’s a “traditional links-style” design. Sounds fancy, don’t it? I don’t know what that means, but I guess it’s something special. Maybe it’s like those old-timey golf courses they have in Scotland. I saw a picture of one once. Looked kinda like a big, empty field with a few holes in it. I don’t know what’s the big deal.
The Links at Starkville is a place for golf. That’s all I know, really. If you’re into that sort of thing, then maybe you should check it out. It’s in Starkville, MS. That’s in Mississippi, you know. Down south. Hot and humid down there, they say. Not my cup of tea, but some folks like it.
Some folks say it has “terrific views.” I guess that means it’s pretty to look at. Well, that’s nice, I suppose. Even if you’re not into golf, you can still enjoy the scenery. Unless you’re too busy chasing that little white ball around. Then you might miss it.
They say this Links at Starkville is for “golfers at every skill level.” That’s a good thing. This way even a beginner like me could have fun, maybe. I still don’t know much about golf, though. I just know it’s a game with clubs and a little white ball. And you have to hit the ball into a hole. Sounds simple, but I guess it’s not. There are so many rules! And all those different clubs… why do they need so many? One should be enough, right?

This whole golf thing seems like a lot of fuss for nothing, if you ask me. But hey, who am I to judge? If it makes people happy, then that’s all that matters, I guess. So if you are one of these golf people, and you are looking for a place to play, you can go to the Links at Starkville. I heard it’s a good place. And if you don’t like it, well, there are two other places in Starkville, maybe you will like those. Who knows?
