Hey everyone, I want to talk about the 49ers’ 2015 season. Man, what a ride that was.

I started the year with high hopes. I mean, it was the 49ers’ 66th season in the NFL, their 70th overall. And it was only the second season they were playing at Levi’s Stadium. We all thought maybe, just maybe, they could make history as the first Super Bowl host team to play in the Super Bowl in their own house.
I remember getting caught up in all the pre-season hype. I even looked into the NFL Draft. I found out that the 49ers traded their first-round selection (No. 15 overall) to the San Diego Chargers. In return, they got San Diego’s first- and fourth-round selections (Nos. 17 and 117 overall). It was a gamble, for sure. I was trying to figure out if it was a good move or not.
So, the season kicked off, and Jim Tomsula was the head coach. It was his only season, as it turned out. I watched every game, cheered them on, and sometimes, yeah, I yelled at the TV.
I dug through some old notes and stats I had kept. It looks like in close games, those decided by one score, the 49ers went 4-2. Not bad, right? But in games decided by a field goal or less, well, that’s where it gets a bit rough.
I ended up compiling all their scores and stats from various sources. It was a bit of a mess, to be honest, but I managed to piece it all together. I made a big spreadsheet, wrote down all the players, their positions, everything.

Final Results
- The 49ers finished the 2015 season with a 5-11 record.
- They were 4th in the NFC West.
- They ranked 15th in the NFC.
Looking back, it was a tough season. Five wins and eleven losses. It wasn’t what any of us hoped for. I recall that name, the “49ers,” it comes from the gold rush era. I read somewhere that a guy named Sorrell suggested it. It’s the only name the team has ever had. And their original logo? It showed those wild beginnings of San Francisco. They have won five Super Bowls, though, mostly in the ’80s, with legends like Joe Montana and Jerry Rice. 2015? Not their best year, but hey, that’s football for you.
It’s kind of nostalgic, looking back at it all now. I spent so much time that year, following every game, analyzing every play. It didn’t end the way I wanted, but I still enjoyed the process, the ups and downs. It’s all part of being a fan, I guess.
