Okay, so, today I tried out something new, it’s called “Amanda Serrano stitches.” I’d seen some people talking about it online, and it looked pretty cool, so I decided to give it a go.

First off, I needed to gather some stuff. I grabbed a piece of fabric – just a plain one from my stash. Then I got my needle and some embroidery floss. I picked a few colors that I thought would look good together, nothing too fancy.

Getting Started

I started by sketching out a simple design on the fabric with a pencil. I kept it pretty basic, just some lines and shapes, because I wasn’t sure how it would turn out. Then I threaded my needle with the first color I’d chosen and got to work.

The whole idea behind these “Amanda Serrano stitches” is that they’re supposed to be bold and kinda messy. So, I made my stitches long and uneven, some going this way, some going that way. It felt a bit weird at first because I’m used to making my stitches neat and tidy.

Experimenting with Stitches

  • I started with just straight stitches, going back and forth in different directions.
  • Then I tried some loop stitches, making them big and loose.
  • I even threw in some cross-stitches, just to mix it up.

As I got more comfortable, I started overlapping the stitches and using different colors. It was kinda like painting with thread, just letting the colors blend together in a haphazard way. There’s really no right or wrong way to do it, which was pretty freeing. I felt that I expressed my feeling through this free stitching.

I spent a couple of hours on it, just stitching away and seeing what happened. It was actually pretty relaxing, just focusing on the stitches and not worrying about making it perfect.

The Final Result

When I finally finished, I stepped back to take a look. It was definitely different from anything I’d made before. It was colorful and textured and had a kind of raw energy to it. I wouldn’t say it was a masterpiece or anything, but it was definitely interesting.

I think I’ll try this technique again sometime. It’s a good way to loosen up and try something new. Plus, it’s a great way to use up scraps of fabric and thread. If you’re looking for a fun and easy project, you should give it a try. Just remember to let go of your expectations and have fun with it!
