This NHL thing, it’s a big deal, ain’t it? Lots of folks talking about it. I hear them young’uns carrying on about NHL preseason stats. Now, I ain’t no expert, but I reckon I can tell you a thing or two about what I’ve heard. They talk a lot about these numbers, like they’re some kinda magic spell.

NHL Preseason Stats: Whos Hot and Whos Not Before the Season Starts

Them Young Whippersnappers

These young fellas, they play hard, you gotta give ’em that. They say most of ’em are best around 23, 25 years old. That’s when they’re strongest, I guess. But some of ’em, they get good a little later. It takes time to learn all them tricks, I suppose. They talk about NHL preseason stats like they are the most important thing in the world.

All Them Numbers

They keep track of all sorts of things. How many times they hit the puck in the net, that’s goals. How many times they help someone else do it, that’s assists. Then they add ’em up, and that’s points. Seems simple enough, don’t it?

  • Goals – When they hit the puck in the net, ya know.
  • Assists – When they help someone else score.
  • Points – Addin’ up the goals and assists. That’s points.

But there’s more to it than just that, there is always more to it. They got all these other numbers. That one where they stop the other team from scoring, goals against average, I think they call it. And how good they are at saving the puck, that’s save percentage. Sounds like a lot of fancy words for just playing hockey.

That Preseason Hoopla

Before the real games start, they have these practice games, NHL preseason. That’s where they figure out who’s good and who needs more practice. And they keep track of all them same numbers. Goals, assists, all that. It’s like a warm-up, gettin’ ready for the big show, they are all trying to show how good they are to get a chance to play when it really counts.

These NHL preseason stats, they mean somethin’, I guess. But it’s not the same as the real games, no way. Some folks, they get all excited about these preseason games, but they ain’t the real deal. The NHL preseason is just a sneak peek. And they play some games in this NHL preseason, and I heard one person, named Phil, scored a lot, he must be pretty good.

NHL Preseason Stats: Whos Hot and Whos Not Before the Season Starts

Who’s Hot and Who’s Not

They’re always talkin’ about who’s hot and who’s not. Which players are doin’ good, which teams are winning. It changes all the time, like the weather. One day this fella’s the best, next day it’s someone else. Hard to keep up, if you ask me.

They say some teams are better than others, and they all want to play in the NHL. Some teams are better than others, and every team wants to win every game, I guess that is the goal after all. And they got all these names for the teams, too. Fancy names, most of ’em. And each team has a bunch of players, and they all got their own numbers they look at, those NHL preseason stats.

More Than Just a Game

Now, I may not understand all the ins and outs of this hockey thing, but I know it’s more than just a game to some folks. It’s a big deal, like a holiday or somethin’. They get all dressed up, yell and scream, and have a grand old time. And they talk about it for days, especially them NHL preseason stats. Who scored, who didn’t, who’s gonna be good this year. It’s a whole lot of somethin’, that’s for sure. They start yapping as soon as the NHL preseason schedule comes out, like it is some kind of holy book.

So, there you have it. That’s what I know about them NHL preseason stats. It’s a lot of numbers and a lot of fuss, but I guess it’s important to some folks. Me, I’m just gonna sit here and watch the world go by. But if you’re into that hockey, well, you keep track of them stats. Maybe you’ll figure out somethin’ I can’t.

And you know what, those players, they work hard. It must be tiring, doing all that skating and hitting. I would not be able to do any of that. It is a tough sport, and you can tell that even in the NHL preseason. They are rough with each other, and they have to be, it is part of the game. I heard them talking about something called penalty minutes, and I think it means how long they have to sit out for being too rough. But I am not really sure, these NHL preseason stats are confusing.

NHL Preseason Stats: Whos Hot and Whos Not Before the Season Starts

The players, they are all trying to do their best, and they want to win, for themselves, for their team, and for the people watching, I guess that is important too. And the people watching, they love it, they love their teams and they love to see them win, especially when the real games start. This NHL preseason is just a little taste, to get them excited for what is coming. You can see it in their eyes, and hear it when they talk about the NHL preseason stats, they can not wait for it to start for real.
